These old, abandoned lobster cars sit, aground on the flats and salt marsh of the Chibogue River, near the little wharf that shelters a few lobsterboats. With what is usually submerged exposed, you can easily see how they are constructed. They float in the salt water, moored near the wharf. Lobsterboats come alongside and their precious cargo is lifted over. The lobsters are dropped through trap doors into the pound until they are purchased and moved to a processing plant.
