Meteghan is the principal harbour on Saint Mary’s Bay, in the Acadian French-speaking French Shore of Nova Scotia. Although many species of sea creatures are caught, the American Lobster is king here! These floating shacks, called lobster cars, have large mesh cages up to two metres deep, below the surface of the water where the catch is stored in it’s native environment until sold to wholesalers, usually later in the day. The cars float so they can rise and fall with the Bay of Fundy tides– some of the highest in the world.
