Rhododendrons are evergreens, so their large leaves can really take a beating over a harsh winter. They compensate by shrivelling and expanding based on the ambient temperature. These leaves and buds were hit by the sudden storm and didn’t have time to react. Luckily the fall wasn’t heavy, nor was it accompanied by high winds, so they get to live another day.
