Public, commercial transportation links have virtually disappeared in Southwest Nova Scotia, but at least the old rail beds have been put to good use, and now provides opportunities for a wide spectrum of outdoors pursuits. The Rails to Trails programme has combined public and private funds with a tremendous volunteer effort to make manicured, long distance trails available to anyone. This is the Rails to Trails information kiosk at the Annis River bridge in Norwood. Both the kiosk and the bridge are a testament to the efforts being put forth.
