The Common Cattail or Typha latifolia, is seen in marsh and wetlands across the Province. It was used by the First Nations people as a food source. Almost all of the plant is edible when prepared properly. Today it is used extensively as a bioremediator as it readily absorbs pollutants. This example was growing in a meadow, at the side of the road leading to Bartlett’s Beach in Clare, Digby County.
