Our house was built in 1837 by my great, great, great grandfather, Benjamin B. Porter. The original property was divided and the next generation of boys built the houses on either side of ours. When the two newer houses were completed my great, great, great grandmother brought three Rhododendron shrubs from Boston and planted one in each front yard. Over 100 years later these three plants have all survived and have grown to magnificent proportions. Even more magnificent are the annual displays as they come into annual bloom… a true tribute to my family and all their hard work.
