The Tag or Hazel Alder is a common roadside plant in Northeast North America. The catkins of these small, short-lived trees are some of the first bloomers in the Spring. Unfortunately they also herald the start of the annual allergy season for many, as trees are the largest source of pollen. Warm temperatures and a gentle rain have brought these catkins to the final phase of growth.
